About The HFFS

The HFFS was formed in 1948 and currently has about 100 members from all walks of life. The main area covered by our activities is the old county of Huntingdonshire and the Soke of Peterborough.

The object of the Society (as stated in our rules) is to promote the study, conservation and recording of wildlife by the encouragement and publication of the results of research, the holding of meetings and such activities as may forward the above-mentioned purposes of the Society.

This sounds rather formal but the reality is very different. Our members range from leading professional environmentalists who are world experts in their chosen subjects, to enthusiastic amateurs, some with extensive knowledge and some just starting. We are all willing to share our expertise.

There are many ways to become involved, and lots of recording to be done. The variety can be seen by looking at the list of recorders.

Joining The Society

You can join the society by going to the membership page. We will be pleased to see you at any of our activities.

Activities

We hold regular indoor meetings, mostly at the Countryside Centre, Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Huntingdon, and field trips to various parts of the region and sometimes beyond. Visit the web pages to see the current programme.

Keeping Informed

Visit the news page regularly to see what has been happening with the local wildlife scene, and to check for any cancellations or changes before setting off.

If you would like an e-mail reminder of our events, send your e-mail address to Barry Dickerson to request the service.
